Swim Meet 101
Before the Meet
- Arrive 15–20 minutes before warm-ups
- Check in with your coach and find the team area
- Come ready with suit, goggles, cap, towel, and water
- If you want your own snacks, bring them, but we have a cafe to buy food at.
Events & Races
- Swimmers are assigned events ahead of time
- Events are organized by age group and stroke (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly)
- Most swimmers compete in 2–4 events per meet
During the Meet
- Listen for your swimmer’s event to be called
- Swimmers report to the clerk of course (staging area) before their race
- Coaches and volunteers will help get swimmers to the blocks on time
What to Bring
- Team suit & cap
- Goggles (bring an extra pair!)
- Towels (can use Life Time towels)
- Water & snacks
- Sunscreen (for outdoor meets)
- Something to stay entertained between events
Team Spirit
- Cheer for all swimmers, not just your own
- Positive energy and sportsmanship are key!
After the Meet
- Swimmers should check in with their coach before leaving
- Celebrate improvements, effort, and team support!
